I want to check what the user is writing in a textbox before I save it in a database. I guess I can always write some ifs or some try-catch blocks, but I was wondering if there's a better method.I've read something about Validating Events, but I am not sure how can I use them. Validating Event When you change the focus by using the keyboard (TAB, SHIFT TAB, and so on), by calling the Select or Select Next Control methods, or by setting the Container Control. That means the user cannot close the form unless the field passes validation.

Note that ARIA is an independent specification that's not specifically related to HTML5.

Let's see how to use this API to build custom error messages.

First, the HTML: attribute to turn off the browser's automatic validation; this lets our script take control over validation.

If the information is correct, the application allows the data to be submitted to the server and (usually) saved in a database; if the information isn't correct, it gives you an error message explaining what needs to be corrected.

This method sets up event handlers for submit, focus, keyup, blur and click to trigger validation of the entire form or individual elements.
